Seen on the KR facebook page that we've signed Ryan Bailey. My first thought was "He must be older then 30, he's been around forever!"

my second thought was "After all these years following rovers we've finally signed an absolute $hithouse" Dunno if thats a good or bad thing but he'll bring some aggression to the pack won't he! What are we thinking? Good signing for me, should strengthen up the front row a good deal.

As a Leeds fan I'm not sure whether I hope this is true or not. He had a really, really quiet year last year. I could wonder whether he's just got too comfortable at Headingley. For all his knockers and doubters, he's a fantastic forward on his day. There haven't been enough of those days lately. Could be that a change is what he needs.

A player I've loathed most of his career, primarily due to his reputation for being a thug & a cheap shot merchant. Naturally, all this is now firmly in his past, he will become a true gentleman in red & white and will offer tea & sandwiches to the opposition at half time. Bless his cotton socks.

It's never been a particularly well deserved reputation. But he does have a knack for getting under opponents' skins. It isn't a bad trait in a prop. Even in our sanitised and smooth-edged modern version of RL.

The notion that he doesn't hang around for a fight when it kicks off is also nonsense. Although he does get in a lot less of them than he used to. Which is good, because he picked up quite a lot of cards for it early in his career.

He didn't persuade a series of head coaches to pick him in 6 title-winning teams by being the waste of space that some will have you believe. If a move gets him motivated and firing on all cylinders again, you've got a top player.

Was he OOC or have rovers paid a fee for him?

I think he had a year left, but I doubt there will have been a fee. We probably needed the cap space.

Lets hope it turns out to be a good move for both parties. Direct replacement for Poore, if he plays 8 games in 2 years its also better value.

It bolsters the pack without using up a quota spot, so despite my reputation as Mr Negative, I'm beginning to see positives in this signing. I will be buying him supper at this rate of progress.
