It seems that at the Halifax Q&A at The Shay last night that Leigh and Featherstone were accused of breaking the salary cap this year. Strong charge to lay from someone surely using only circumstantial evidence.

From what I can gather it is alleged to be being done as any punishment wouldn't come into effect until 2015 .

Surely we wouldn't want to incur a punishment that season either, though?

That's what I thought Alan. Train of thought seems to be that as we would effectively be a full time squad playing in a part time league that we would be able to absorb any points penalty imposed on us and still finish top four in the division next season. Hence putting us into the middle Super League group against the demoted Super League teams.

Sounds like a cracking idea to me.

Sounds ridiculous to me. Surely no club would want to start off that season with a points deduction, regardless of whether they were full time or not - and it hardly sends out the right message to the RFL.

I have great faith in our board, (especially our FD) and would be very surprised (and disappointed) if they chose to take this route to achieve our dream.

Spot on Mish, the finances could not possibly be in better hands.

Absolutely nothing to worry about in fact we still have space in reserve on the cap believe it or not.

Our FD has all aspects of finance in hand and is in regular dialogue with Blake Solly and the RFL and we are a very well structured and sound business which not many clubs in our league or above can claim to be.

Im happy to go on record and state matter of fact that some of the players we have brought in actually turned down more money being offered by Fax and other clubs to sign for us and some of the existing players who were given new contracts took reduced terms as they were desperate to stay at Leigh and be a part of the vision and something very special which is now even clearer than it was months ago as happening.

Let others worry about us we are Leigh and we are going places.
