I cant believe what I have just heard our coach say on BBC radio Manchester post game.

On Gabe Hamlin's performance Wane said " I look at it different than the fans, Gabe has a big leg drive after contact, but I don't want that I want him to drop and play the ball quickly so we get momentum. That's not how I want him to play"

No wonder our pack get bullied every week. Then we all wonder why FPN didn't break a tackle I n2 year.

I am a big Wane fane but for pity's sake.

Hamlin, Isa and Sutton won contact all day and allowed players like Williams more time and space.

He has to accept defeat in this “find the floor quickly” tactic. We barely make any meters and end up kicking from our own 30.

It comes as no surprise. Many of us have defended our props when criticised by saying they are playing under instruction.

Hamlin won at least 4 penalty’s after his excellent drives today because of his desire to play the ball so quickly after that so I’m not sure what wane is getting at here, we can still gain momentum if our props drive the ball in hard. What an utterly unbelievable statement, no wonder our props look crap most of the time if that’s what he is telling them to do. Best prop performance at Wigan I have seen for a long time from young gabe.

No please no. I believe April Fools was yesterday and as a bloke who’s backed Wane more often then not, that type of comment will make it difficult. I find it pretty disrespectful towards the fans the tbh. I’ve been watching the game for 30 years and people will have enjoyed his performance today who’ve watched the game from before Wane was born and that is utter sh*te what he’s come out with.

I’m pretty bewildered by that.

He was attacking defenders, winning penalties and must’ve been responsible for well in excess of 250m when you consider the ground from the pens and his own carries.

I'm not sure why people get so worked up when quotes are taken in isolation without the full context.

Numerous times this year people have put snippets of quotes from wane on here and he's either a/ not said them at all or b/ they don't look as strange when looked at within the full interview.

Two different interviews, the one about leg drive was from BBC Radio Manchester. It’s genuinely worrying that he doesn’t want leg drive after contact, there’s a reason NRL put so much emphasis on metres after contact and it sounds like Wane wants to coach it out of him.

I’m a big fan of Wane but feel like someone’s needs to give him a big shake on this one.
