Are those the same "experts" who were predicting he'd be first to go last season?

Only one I tend to disagree with is McNamarra. I reckon he is in a tight spot and another season of underachieving may be one too many. They are used to success at the Bulls whereas we at the Quins are mere novices

| I think thats a reasonable price. McDermott has to perform this year IMO. No play offs for 3 years, unacceptable, and going backwards from Tony Rea's reign.

You'd be happy to accept another season of mediocrity?
Also McDermott has taken a big risk with the players he has signed, it will have to pay off or else I fear he will get the boot for a more experienced coach.

| It seems strange that Terry Matterson is joint longest odds after his team finished bottom last season. Also John Kear is surprisingly short odds for me. He seems to be the right coach at the right club.

this team is put together on a tiny budget, unless you win the lottery and are prepared to stump up the cash needed, I reckon you might be better off getting some more realistic expectations!!

Matterson will only get the boot if he finishes bottom again which is unlikely with Salford and CC joining the mix. For Wakey to get a franchise next time round they either need to get a new ground sorted or become succesfull on the pitch. Thats why I think the bookies think Kear will feel the heat this season

Ha, this is the same team that were put together on the tiny budget that allowed the club to employ Hill, McLinden, Paul etc, and we are apparently up to the salary cap limit already ... and seemingly with no main sponsor
Strange how we managed before on a "tiny budget" and at least got into the playoffs.

Am I right in thinking that Wakefield are in a somewhat parlous financial state. Not that this has anything directly to do with Kear, but budgetary concerns and competing for signings might become an issue, plus there's the ongoing stadium subject.
I don't see us sacking McDermott, especially with relegation not being a problem. If anything it should make his position more entrenched. However, he's not been helped the recruitment which has been average at best. We might see just how good a coach he really is this year to get the best out of the current group. If he does leave, it will be resigning or moving to another club IMO.

Didn't happen last season, won't happen this season.
