Quote North London Gooner="North London Gooner"According to the Barnet Chairman Tony Kleanthous [uwe[/u have invested 'heavily' in signings. Hmmm.....'"
who exactly are
[u"we"[/u?
Tony K has invested not a brass farthing in the London Broncos, so the only revenue we currently command is the SKY cash and David Hughes cheque book. David Hughes has cut back his level of investment this year and as we are let to believe that we are baying The Hive for various administration functions, the "heaviness" of recruitment is open to question.
Exhibit A.
Nesiasi Mataitonga. 2012 Under 20's Cronulla player who played 10 games that season, who seems to have dropped down to reserve/part time grade in 2013 is our first confirmed overseas player. If this guy is on "big money" then it shows how inept the recruitment process is at the club...he is one of very many NRL U20's that don't make the grade (Rooster will back me on this) who drift into the part time/second string comps...he is not a top dollar investment!
Exhibit B.
Nesiasi Mataitonga is indicative of the standard of player left available to the club. Regardless of when the discussions started, unless we are paying transfer fees, then all we have are Nesi types and loanees from the NRL who may be on wages that their clubs would be happy for us to pick up.
Back to the income that is paying for all this. DH put 2.2 million into the club in 2012. The other 2.2 million that year came from SKY, Sponsors, match day revenue and season tickets. We've given up on match day revenue and season tickets and we currently don't have any sponsors. Rather than wean ourselves OFF Mr Hughes cash, we have actually made ourselves more reliant on it.
