Considering the benefits to two very worthy charities I can see why it is being done. Too many will not attend though because it's RU and vice versa which is a shame.

Wrong on so many levels - mainly as faddy60 has just said, what IF we are pushing for a good Superleague finishing position why on earth would you risk any injuries on something as stupid as this?

Where do you start? The major issue for me is risk of injuries, imagine the likes of Rangi Chase or Tim Smith getting caught up in one of them ridiculous mauls they have, where the only skill required is to have big studs and stamp as hard as you can on any player who gets on the wrong side. Secondly as a spectacle I imagine it would be awful, for both sets of supporters. No disrespect to the Sale players but can you imagine the state they'll be in after defending a couple of sets? I cant see there big forwards retreating back 10 metres after each tackle and remaining onside. Likewise with our boys, will they release the ball appropriately in mauls etc - it will be a penaltyathon.

Salford will win the league half, Sale will win the union half. Pointless.

If I wanted to watch RU I'd go and watch a game of RU played between RU teams. However, I don't want to watch RU, I find it incredibly frustrating to watch and I imagine that would be even worse when subjected to 40 minutes of it played by one team who knows what they are doing and one team who's messing about.

I'll donate to the charities involved in lieu of not going, so they don't lose out, but I hardly think I'll miss out on anything.
