I was thinking this morning whilst getting ready for the daily grind of working for a living about what we could do to give ourselves a chance in the upcoming playoff series.

As we know our major problem this season has been a lack of halfbacks and Gaz O'Brien's loan spell showed us what we could do with a specialised halfback (although he was no world beater).

So my idea was to loan a 6 and a 7 from clubs outside the playoffs... this could be detrimental also, so going down the idealist route I would loan Chase from Cas and Tim Smith from Wakefield, this would mean De-registering Perry and another overseas player (Preferrably Hohaia or Laffranchi). This would give us the organisational number 7 and the unpredictable, off the cuff 6 the majority of us so desire.

The obvious detriments to this would be that it could take them time to settle into our plays and before our playoff series starts it will be over... so in an ideal world if a 6 and a 7 could slot seemlessly into our squad and complete our plays who would you like to see running our halfback roles for the playoffs?

Please note I am fully aware I may be ridiculed for posting this idea, and that this idea is purely fantasy, but this is solely designed to delve into the thoughts of the others into the possibilities of what we could have and what we are likely to go with.

Potentially useful idea, although I'm sure I heard mention on the Sky coverage this weekend of a new rule which disallows clubs from registering new players within five weeks of the end of the regular season.

That rule came in following the time that Joey Johns and Morley came over on loan after the NRL season had finished.

We could always recall Gaskell...

Hold your breath. "We ARE SEARCHING THE NRL FOR A No. 6."

If you believe that then we are on our way.
My own opinion is that our new No.6 will be Wilkin. If that don't excite you nothing will.

That should be a given. He is a saints player till the end of the season and he should be back at saints and availabke for selection. Its in his own interests to put himself in the shop window

He doesn't need to he's signed for Bradford.

He is still available till end of season. Lance or gaskell. It's not a tough choice.

I'd pick Lance at this moment in time.

There are good reasons why Gaskell is no long playing for us. If the coached thought he could add anything to the team he would not be at Salford

True but if he thought Lance could add anything to the team he would not have dropped him for a loan from Warrington for their 4rd string halfback.

I'm still holding out hope for a very late and triumphant return from Wheeler
