| I'm a huge JP fan and for my money he, along with Ablett and Hardaker has been our best player this season, however, I think he let himself down last night.
Fair enough, he copped a facial from Sarsfield on the floor (no worse than the type you see about 10 times in any typical SL game), but to react in that manner taking a swing at a part-time player half his size in embarrassing. Now, I'm not against the biff as and when appropriate, but what particularly gets my goat is the fact when, for instance, we played Wigan at HQ and Bateman clattered him, or when we played Wigan at the Etihad and Micky Mac near on decapitated him, why didn't he spark them out, rather than his derriere falling out, as it did on both occasions?!
I'm all for the 'hardman' act and there's no question JP is a tough bloke, but let's see him dish out the punishment on the tough guys (not sure you can even call Bateman that!) in the big games, rather than being a flat-track bully against a bunch of part-timers!!
And on the subject, Brett Delaney....if you're going to come steaming in when the ruckus kicks off (like he did last night), actually do something, rather than bottle it when an opponent squares up, as he usually does!!
Roll on Cuthbertson....

Completely agree tad. What I don't like is JP bottling it v the so called tough guys in big games, but taking a cheap shot punch at a lad half his size who wasn't even looking. Was hardly the worst facial JP's been on the end of this season and if he's going to react with a punch every time that happens, lets see it when he's on the end of far worse from the likes of Micky Mac and Bateman!!

Presuming you don't watch State of Origin then? The pinnacle of the code and biff forms a key part of it, just ask current NSW captain and great, Paul 'G-Train' Gallen.
As I said in my OP, biff is only appropriate in certain situations and last night, in my opinion, wasn't one of them or if it was (as JP clearly thought), it should be used in the face of worse tactics as implemented by the Wigan Warriors outfit.
Notwithstanding that, JP got slotted by Bob Beswick and soon backtracked!!

But I agree, JP should and would take Bateman, but lets see it, rather than getting knocked seven bells out of by!!

| Don't be daft. He took a swinging and then was nutted. They were the cheap shots. The ginner got what he deserved. He may think twice about nutting someone next time. You can't dish it out and then expect nothing in return. I do not believe JP deserved to be yellowed tbh, that lad got what he deserved.
Biff is one of the best aspects of the game anyway.

| Facials happen all the time - JP dishes them out himself. If you watched the game today you will notice every time huby/millington were tackled by SOL he put the forearm in the face/throat. In one instance he clearly changed his position in order to do so. Generally the player on the receiving end doesn't then punch the offender repeatedly in the face- if they did JP would have had more than a few shots his way by now. Because he reacted in retaliation you think he shouldn't be punished? Joe Wardle anyone?

What a load of complete tosh.
Think you will find there was a swinging arm to peacock while he was laid unprotected on the floor the coped a small headbutt and a bit of a facial to finish off. Peacock retaliated and the player got what he deserved. The guy was not half of peacocks size he was also playing in the forwards .
Wigan didn't do anything that dirty to peacock. A run of the mill high tackle by mclorum, and can't remember batemen doing anything to JP other than they had some verbals?
Hardly a flat track bully against part timers either Josh perry in a WCC, Willie mason for just a few.
Thought Delaney went in to spit it up tbh and then there was only some handbags after some verbals.

| Frankly, after the two cheap shots from Sarsfield I would have been disappointed if Peacock hadn't come up swinging.

Not very often I agree with a Giants fan, but think the above is spot on!
Was a cowardly act from JP and doesn't become the 2 time international forward of the year. He's better than that and would be best served saving the rough stuff for the likes of Wigan and Warrington.
Whether he should have been playing last night remains to be seen, as I'd like to think McDumbnut would be resting Peacock in such games. Perhaps Peacock lashing out was his frustration as to not being rested for what should have been an easy game?
