Gannon got the Stevie Ward vibes, talented but too injury prone, can’t see him having a long career, maybe dodged a bull it as if he had resigned it would be in a massive long term deal.

He didn't sign a deal that would have kept him here, why would he have signed up to one that commits him to returning?
5 weeks is relatively short. Gannon's still behind the likes of Newman in terms of repeat injuries, never mind Ward etc. The only link with Ward is the long-term lay off for concussion issues last season. He's still a way to go to follow Ward out of the game early, and concussion protocols in the game are much more robust since Ward was playing.

It's scary when you think about how much we used to condone concussion. IIRC there was an important game not that long before he retired that Kevin Sinfield when was knocked out, yet he came back in the same game to win it for us. This would be impossible now under current rules.
