| Cannot see what else Carney could have done. If someone starts throwing punches at you, what else can you do. If he does nothing, then he ends up out of action for a few weeks with a broken jaw anyhow. The penalty went our way, so this should all be taken into account. Surely the RFL should allow some leeway and understanding in these circumstances. There has to be an allowance for defending yourself, otherwise serious injury can take place.
What gets me though is the sheer inconsistency of the RFL, particularly the disciplinary side. In the Leeds v Wigan Magic Weekend game there is a mass brawl there for all to see, but not one of the perpetrators is even charged. One, McIlorum of whom has already been banned this year for breaking a players jaw through foul play. He then displays two cases of downright assault, but absolutely nothing is done. So it's wrong for someone to defend themselves with punches but OK to try and knock someones head off a couple of times. I don't understand it.

| They'll do what they do. He's likely to have been injured if he hadn't retaliated and could have missed a couple of matches too. Ironic, really.

Am not even a Cas fan but I was seething when I saw this ban because of the double standards of it all. Any of a number of Wigan players could (should) have been charged but all were let off.

He's already had a two game ban, then a fine and a warning for the same thing.

| Strange verdict when you compare exatly the same thing happened at magic (Wigan Vs Leeds) are no one called up. Sin bin sufficient for 3 players. Very strange IMO.

| Flynn has already pleaded guilty and received a two match ban, so I suspect Carney will get two or three, due his past convictions for the same type of offence.
