i have done a 5 minute read up and contracts run till Nov 1st so if you paid him now it would count on cap ? Now if you pay him after that it doesnt count on the salary cap for next year ? That leaves the salary cap open to abuse doesnt it sign someone for 3 years agree in principle to let them leave after 2 at the end of season big pay off that counts on neither years salary cap so you have paid him 50 percent more for each of the 2 years with no chance of a penalty for cap breaching. It does leave it to abuse yes, in theory you could back end someones contract and then in the last year, when you know he was never going to play, you can pay him off.

I'm not sure if SL has a salary cap adjudicator like the NRL but every contract has to be approved to make sure everything fair.
