I don't see this game as falling away badly.

We (Smith) made a couple of mistakes that gave them a roll on, and we tried to chase the game and gave an interception.
We competed with a team that is far better technically and physically than us. We couldn't keep it up because they played more freely on the back of our mistakes.

Fall away means we gave up. I didn't see that. I saw fatigue from tackling bigger players and letting tries in out wide when getting drawn in tackling players that would have bust us if we didn't.

We weren't great at times but we weren't terrible either. And at times we looked like we had a chance.

I'm tempted to say we drop Smith but I'm not sure our options are better without. He does run the plays well, but he made too many mistakes today for it not to be a consideration. Disappointing because I thought he started well.

I wasn't suggesting they gave up, but the concentration and fitness levels dropped for whatever reason in the latter stages which allowed Wire to put on a larger score than the game warrented. To be fair the most disappointing scores were the first two.

Ref and linesman very poor today, from my understanding from talking to people who were up the other end, Mathers try should not have been disallowed and it's debatable as to whether Collis's try should been.
Seems that penalty after penalty was given against wire but no one shown a card and the only forward passes spotted seemed to be debatable ones from us and not any of the obvious ones from wire, this constantly put us on the back foot that meant we were having to defend more sets and long term this took effect.
However we were poor at killing the ball and allowed them to offload too much and I don't know how Mathers didn't get man of the match today, he had a very good game
