How is this fair on the championship sides competing in the middle 8's?

I've said before as you get 2/3 of your points from the league an 1/3 from the Super 8s that's how any points deduction should be divided. With 6 points now Salford are likely to end up in the Qualifiers, have their points reset and face no consequences for breaking the rules. If they'd have had 4 points now they'd still stand a chance of making the top 8, another 2 once the Super 8s started, penalises them if their points are re-set, makes no difference if they're not.

It isn't fair on the current Salford players or coaching staff and it isn't fair on the top 4 clubs from the Championship. It is fair however on the Salford club as a whole to face a penalty, I am just not sure a points deduction is the right way. Perhaps given we're two years down the line, a reasonable fine would have been a better punishment.
