just read that wigan are to have 5 captains for the coming season...personally i think its a bit silly..one captain and one vice captain is enough....

I think he's got the idea from Melbourne and a fair few other Aussie clubs who have a captain and a "leadership group" of senior players.

now i am never one to side with the pies but did we not have 3 players last season who were "Captain" at some stage on the pitch last season?

Think they will work it round interchanges and injuries. The only problem i could see is if they won anything but we need not worry about that

But I didn't post it, because sometimes if you go against the grain on here, the Thought Brigade gets on their high horse and demand you fall in line and have re-education.

Anyway, back to Wigan. Yeah, it seems to be a common occurance in other sports, but not really in RL. You have a club captain and a team captain. Nice to see something different being tried. Will be interesting to see how it all works. Can't see all 5 of them trying to talk over each other if Wigan has just conceded a try.

Still, if it gee's them all up knowing that they have multiple people shouting at them, it can only be a good thing.
