This goes to the heart of the observation that Leigh are not really suitable for Super League. They are an excellent Championship club which can keep the Leigh masses entertained at that level. |

Surprisingly, after 28 years of dross (bar one season!) it's quite enjoyable watching Salford this season. 
It's so refreshing seeing the likes of Cas, Salford and Wakey playing so well and playing some bl00dy good rugby in the process. For years us Salford fans would have looked at Wire away as nothing but a good spanking but a follow up home match against Wakey as a great chance to pick up 2 points. Still confident of our chances after yesterday but should be a great game against a really decent attacking Wakey team.
Only bumped into one Wire fan post match yesterday and it was comedy gold. He was obviously a big local fan with his Cumbrian accent  who proceeded to tell me (and the other half dozen Salford fans at Bank Quay how we shouldn't be gloating (which we weren't) and how corrupt the RFL and Super League was that we were having tries allowed for forward passes and that we have a fanbase (no poop Sherlock) and we'll never work as SalChester Reds etc etc....
You know a conversation is never gonna start well when it begins "Credit where it's due BUT...."  . |

Can't remember the last time Salford had a player make it into the SL Dream Team (Alker?  ) but we must have 3 or 4 in with a shout this year (BMM, Lui, Kopczak). It really is a team effort tho with Salford (exact opposite of last few years) and quite a few unsung heroes playing out of their skins. In Wire's programme yesterday (a well put together read btw) they listed the 1992 Dream Team. 9 Wigan, 1 Cas, 1 Saints,1 Wire & 1 Widnes. As it stands I'd expect a minimum of 4 or 5 Cas and a decent representation from other less fashionable clubs. Will be interesting to see if the usual faces appear tho despite extremely average seasons..... |
