Leeds would be mid table over there at best. Saints just below and the rest would struggle to win more than 3 or 4 games all year. |

Obviously i repect langers opinion but i don't agree.
Does he watch super league week in week out?
Leeds would never be able to handle the week in week out intensity (it's the same old story).
Leeds would finish outside of the playoffs probably, but after a few seasons would start to adapt.
Look at the intesnity in the grand final and they'd need to be up to that level week in week out.
Leeds spend all season priming themselves to play like that in the grand final.

Well we only have the results of one off games to go by against Australian club sides. Those have gone pretty good (I know Manly beat us, but they beat everybody in the NRL as well), and as that's always against their Champions it's not a bad place to start.
Could we play like that every week? Well with better weather (especially during pre-season), a full, longer, pre-season to acclimatise, no Challenge cup, who knows? |

Strange thread this.
Everyone who disagrees with Alfie Langer end up agreeing with him by the end of their first sentence.
He hasn't said that Leeds would be NRL Champions, he said that Leeds would "do really well" in the competition, hasn't even suggested a play off spot, but that "they'd do really well".
Anyone disagree with him now ?

I don't realy see why Leeds woundn't do well.
Who is anyone on here to really disagree with Langer anyway? This guy really knows his stuff.
It is impossible to say if Leeds would win it or come close though as it will never happen. However, I believe Leeds AND Saints would do really well and could pretty much match all the top NRL teams, but if Celtic Crusaders played the bottom NRL club it would be 100 - 0 as their league is much more even and competetive than ours throughout!

Haven't you noticed the proliferation of prediction threads on forums like these ?
Some people like to think that their geek-like "knowledge" of the game garnered from rugby magazines, newspapers and watching a bit, offers them an insight that the professionals don't get - there are users on this very forum who are convinced that they know far more then the games top professionals |
